What Do You Know About The New Skills Boot Camps for Adults?
DO YOU KNOW that new, Skills Boot Camps are now available to adults from a wide range of backgrounds – including graduates, non-graduates, the employed, the self-employed, and the recently unemployed? As well as those who want to return to work after a break? Check them out today. They promise rapid acquisition of best in class, industry-recognized qualifications, and skills employers most want and need, especially in high-growth sectors. They also promise to fast-track learners into careers. Bear in mind, these are not like the many online courses out there. Skills Boot Camps promise to provide hands-on support and guidance most learners tend to need for up to 16 weeks.
These Skills Boot Camps will cover a wide range of in-demand skills, including data science, data analytics, software development, AI, cyber security, as well as other advanced digital skills. They will also cover skills for high-growth sectors such as engineering, construction, rail, green, and healthcare.Young adults just starting out can benefit, as well as mid-career workers across all industry sectors who want to progress in their careers, or switch careers altogether.
How much do Skills Boot Camps cost?
These Skills Boot Camps are at no cost to learners. They have been developed in collaboration with employers and are supported by the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs.
Who will deliver them?
They will be delivered by a wide range of universities and tertiary learning providers across the U.K. – see the full list here. A consortium of 14 respected universities across the U.K. under the umbrella of the Institute of Coding announced last month that they will be delivering 26 of these Boot Camps. These free government-supported Skills Boot Camps are a very recent development. I think it is fair to say that they are not widely understood. So do your research. Start by having a look at the GOV.U.K’s full list of Skills Boot Camps. Find out more about eligibility criteria and how best to choose the right course for you by speaking to the National Careers Service and the individual universities/ tertiary learning providers.
